Ubuntu Wellness Academy was founded in 2007 by Iya Omitola as Ubuntu Birth Workers Collective. She wanted to create a sacred space of learning and healing for all women, with a special focus on women of color. The goal is to raise awareness of the importance of self-care beyond its typical aesthetics. In 2017, she changed the name to represent the increased forms of training.

Ubuntu is a South African philosophy that means "I am because we are." This philosophy is the foundation of Ubuntu because we are a collective of women coming together, built on the foundation of the wombs that came before us, to promote self-healing through the power of the womb and sisterhood.

Healing includes all women who are childbearing, experienced hysterectomies, or other womb issues. If you are going through menopause or just evolving into womanhood, we are here for you, too.

We provide online classes, workshops, conference calls, and more.
